Vincent Sy

Physiotherapist

Vincent Sy

(he/him/his)

When Vincent was in high school, his grandfather suffered from a series of strokes in quick succession and lost significant motor ability. During this challenging time, Vincent was amazed to see the progress his grandfather made with physical rehabilitation. What became clear is the importance of his grandfather’s determination to recover and also the support and guidance of the therapists who oversaw his treatment program. This experience stayed with Vincent and led him to seek a career in physiotherapy where he could help people.

Vincent completed his Bachelor’s of Human Kinetics at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 2010 and continued his studies there for his Master’s of Physiotherapy, completed in 2012. He believes in the importance of understanding what clients want to achieve, while also promoting an active component to clinical care and trying to integrate the best evidence-based practice. Having been an athlete from a young age, Vincent has personally benefited from physiotherapists who helped him get back in game shape! Vincent understands the impact physiotherapy can have on all patients who come to see him and tailors treatments and programs according to his patients’ goals.

My kids and I find Vince to be a top-notch physiotherapist. He listens well, explains what he’s doing and why, and his treatments are effective. He is respectful, kind, professional, and he remembers personal details unrelated to the reasons we are there for treatment. We feel safe and well taken care of in Vince’s hands and we highly recommend him to anyone seeking a quality physiotherapist.

Vincent has practised in British Columbia, Alberta, and Virginia, and recognizes that regardless of the community served or clinical setting, the most important thing is connecting with clients to provide them with the best care possible. Vincent possesses excellent interpersonal skills and has been recognized by clients in the past for his professionalism and attentiveness to their care. He continues to strive towards learning how to improve his clinical skills and improve patient outcomes. He has previously worked as a clinic manager and values the importance of working collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.

Vincent played volleyball throughout high school and his undergraduate degree, and still plays casually and stops by for drop-in too. He focuses most of his attention on soccer, as he loves to play outdoors while the weather permits! He also loves to enjoy the outdoors by kayaking and walking his senior dog Fuji.
